Marie

Dr Marie Besnier is a research specialist in Ancient Near Eastern Studies and affiliate of the University of Cambridge McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. Marie taught cuneiform writing and ancient Mesopotamian languages at university level (Akkadian and Sumerian), and also took part to archaeological excavations in Syrian for fifteen years.

Enjoying working with children, Marie also has years of classroom experience in primary schools to bring this topic to life! She created Esagil Games to engage families and schools with Ancient Mesopotamia and Sumer. She got funded twice for her outreach projects, and Esagil Games is now a proud partner of the University of Cambridge.
